Baker/ Pastry Crew

We are searching for a candidate to fill a high-volume Baker position. The Baker position will entail the following, but not limited to:

  • Weigh and measure ingredients

  • Follow recipes

  • Mix and blend batters

  • Roll, knead, cut, or shape dough to form cinnamon rolls, pie/quiche crusts, tarts, cookies, or other products.

  • Set oven temperatures and monitor or modify as needed

  • Cut and glaze baked goods

  • Prepare and maintain inventory

  • Clean and sanitize workstation and equipment

We are seeking a candidate who has attention to detail in all aspects of baking, good organization and prioritization skills, works quickly but efficiently, and is ambitious and looking for a long-term position on our team. 

 

This position will be hourly, and the shifts can vary and have some scheduling flexibility. We anticipate 4-5 days of baking, approximately 20 hours per week. 

Custom Crew Member (Cakes)

The Custom Crew Member (Cakes) will be responsible for completing custom cake orders. This will be a high-volume position and is at the heart of Abbie Cakes, as our business was built on creating unique, custom cakes! This position will create a variety of custom cakes with emphasis on wedding cakes as they grow in their skills, experience and position. Experience is required and the candidate must have a solid foundation in the basics of cake decorating (trimming/leveling, filling, dirty and final icing cakes). Fondant work experience is preferable. 

 

We are looking for a candidate with superb attention to detail as these are custom orders with very specific design expectations. Cakes are at the center of a client's celebration and they require the utmost care and work. This candidate should have good organization and prioritization skills, works quickly but efficiently, and is ambitious and looking for a long-term position on our team. 

 

This position will be hourly, and the shifts can vary and have some scheduling flexibility. This will likely be a position in the latter part of the week with Saturdays required and some Sundays depending on volume. Holidays (which means mainly the day before and the week of a major holidays ie. Easter Saturday is required since we are closed on Easter) are required.

Shop Lead

We are searching for a candidate to fill a very specific Shop Lead position in our shop. The Shop Lead will essentially be responsible for preparing our pastry case each morning, which includes but is not limited to the following:

  • Arranging the display case in an appealing and very Abbie Cakes aesthetic manner

  • Ensuring all baked goods are completed on time for opening

  • Preparing enough for product restock throughout the day 

  • Baking cookies (which are already rolled and ready to bake)

  • Slicing breads/loaves

  • Icing cinnamon rolls, cupcakes, and cake slices

  • Topping and cutting brownies

  • Filling cookie sandwiches

  • Slicing quiche

  • Preparing cake pops/cakesicles 

  • Completing cake jars

  • Packaging items

  • Preparing for the next day

We are looking for a candidate with good organization and prioritization skills, works quickly but efficiently, and is ambitious and looking for a long-term position on our team. 

 

This position is hourly, and will begin between 4-5am each day with rotating weekends. For holidays (which is mainly the day before for major holidays ie. Easter Saturday since we are closed on Easter) we may have the Shop Lead come in earlier than 4am. 

Custom Crew Member (Desserts)

The Custom Crew Member (Desserts) will be responsible for completing custom and wholesale orders for our small desserts. This will be a high-volume position. Common desserts include but are not limited to:

  • Cupcakes 

  • Cakesicles

  • Cake Pops

  • Cake Jars/ Pie Jars

  • Cheesecakes

  • Brownies

  • Cinnamon Rolls

  • Donuts

We are looking for a candidate with superb attention to detail as these are custom orders with specific requests and expectations (specific designs  color schemes, etc). This candidate should have good organization and prioritization skills, works quickly but efficiently, and is ambitious and looking for a long-term position on our team. 

 

This position will be hourly, and the shifts can vary and have some scheduling flexibility. This will likely be a position in the latter part of the week with Saturdays required and some Sundays depending on volume. Holidays (which means mainly the day before and the week of a major holidays ie. Easter Saturday is required since we are closed on Easter) are required.

Macaron Crew Member

The Macaron Crew Member will be responsible for creating macarons both for the shop, holidays, and  custom and/or wholesale orders.The crew member will become a master of macarons, the Abbie Cakes way striving for consistency every time. Duties will include, but are not limited to:

  • Macaron prepping

  • Executing the macaron process/ baking 

  • Pairing, filling and decorating macarons

  • Flavor creation

  • Color mixing to particular shades

This candidate should be eager to offer help to their team members with non-macaron tasks if needed. We are looking for a candidate with superb attention to detail as macarons are a delicate pastry that require precision and consistency  This candidate should have good organization and prioritization skills, works quickly but efficiently, and is ambitious and looking for a long-term position on our team. 

 

This position will be hourly, and the shifts can vary and have some scheduling flexibility. We anticipate 2-4 days of baking, approximately 20 hours per week.  Weekend shifts may be necessary. It is possible this could be an evening shift. Holidays (which means mainly the day before and the week of a major holidays ie. Easter Saturday is required since we are closed on Easter) are required.
